Kate Middleton's Gingham Dress Is a Symbol Spring Is Here (PHOTO)

kate middletonSpring is in the air and nothing makes that more evident than Kate Middleton's dress. While it's not a floral, the Duchess of Cambridge decided to welcome the flowers with something a little more picnic-inspired -- gingham!

It's actually separates, an A-line skirt and 3/4-sleeve top from the Eponine London spring and summer 2016 collection. Red and white and gingham tweed forever. Gingham is just so timeless! It's nearly the perfect outfit to wear for a spot of tea in the garden with the birds chirping and the spring winds blowing through her hair. And I only say nearly because I worry about those heels.

Kate wore this number to a youth mentoring program she attended with Prince William. She matched her high-heeled pumps with those black buttons on the top and her clutch, and -- as always -- she stood out in the crowd.

Knowing these are separates, I suppose Kate could recycle this look and pair the top with black pencil pants or the skirt with a boxy black semi-crop top. The look together is certainly royal, keeping in line with the not-too-daring looks that Kate wears, and yet still manages to stay on trend or true to her own personal style. She does love gingham, though I am a little surprised it isn't blue. Still, I welcome the pop of red -- it looks gorgeous with the warm tones of color in her hair.
