Size-2 Ashley Benson: Too Fat for Hollywood

You have got to be kidding me. Ashley Benson recently revealed that she's been called fat repeatedly in Hollywood, and told she needs to drop weight for roles. The Pretty Little Liars actress is a size 2.

Benson, 26, graces the cover of Health for the March 2016 issue and shares her unbelievable story about the pressure she's been under in Tinseltown to keep a gaunt frame. It's been so intense, it's even led to some pretty severe anxiety.

"It's come up a few times in the last few years, like, 'You're too fat for this,'" she revealed to the mag. "And I'm just sitting here like, 'Wait, what? Do you want a skeleton?' But I feel good. I don't want to lose 20 pounds, because I don't need to."

Right on, sister! Um, have we mentioned that she looks like this?

I'm pretty sure we'd be checking her into a rehab clinic for an eating disorder if she shed 20 pounds from her slim figure.

Even so, Benson said that she gets "told all the time to lose weight." She confessed, "I got that a month ago. It's just weird. With my stuff recently, it's been, 'You have to be skin and bones or you're not getting it.' There was a point where it was getting to where a size 2 was great. I'm a size 2, but I think that a size 4 is healthy. I think that all of these sizes are healthy."

She also revealed that a cryptic Instagram post from late 2015 stemmed from being called fat. The post read, "Everything you are going thru is preparing you for what you asked for," and she told the mag, "That was when I got told that I was too fat."

She continued, "I was just like, 'Why am I even in this industry?' It's just so depressing sometimes. But no matter what challenge you're going through, if you're having the worst day or the worst week or the worst year, everything that's happening to you right now is happening for a reason that you will see in the future."

The pressure to be rail-thin has been so intense that Ash has dealt with some pretty bad anxiety. She said that it was the worst between 2011–2013, and that she even fainted on set one time because of it. Now she tries to balance it out with regular exercise and being sure to get plenty of rest.

"That's part of why I work out," she shared, "because it has canceled out the anxiety. I was on Xanax for a long time. It helped, but I decided I was going to be able to self-medicate through meditation, working out, sleeping, eating healthy, and drinking more water ... There will be times where I will get [anxiety], but it's not a full-blown panic attack. It's just, like, for a couple hours I feel as if I'm going to die ... Anxiety is horrible."

Geez, who wouldn't have anxiety being told that they need to lose weight when they're already super skinny? I have anxiety just reading about it. Hollywood needs to get it together. Most of us care more about talented actresses than ones who look like coat hangers.
