Kate Middleton's Favorite Sport Involves a Gun

The Duchess of Cambridge has a favorite sport, but it isn't one you'd immediately associate with a princess who sometimes wears tiaras and attends balls. Kate Middleton reportedly loves hunting — and she isn't the only royal woman to pack a gun and head out into the woods.

The 34-year-old mom of two has really settled down at Anmer Hall in Norfolk and, along with Prince William, seems to be enjoying country life. Part of her rural existence reportedly involves hosting parties and inviting other royals and non-royal friends to take part in hunting expeditions around Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham estate.

Kate, along with other royals -- like Sophie, Countess of Wessex -- pair up with another guest and embark on competitive shoots where they hunt down partridges and pheasants or help their partner collect his/her game. The only rule seems to be that Kate can't partner up with William — which is probably for the best since both seem to be highly competitive and would probably argue over who gets more time with their rifle.

So, yes, Kate knows how to fire a shotgun. I think it's safe to say there are few things Kate doesn't know how to do.

Kate and company reportedly pack a lunch to bring with them into the woods and dine in a wood cabin located in the middle of the estate. Hunting has been a long-time passion of Will's and he has been hosting shooting parties at Sandringham since his college days. Many of his friends are also avid hunters, so it seems like shooting is as natural to them as playing football might be for others.

It's unclear whether William inspired Kate to take up his hobby or if she's a natural, but she catches on fast and never fails to defy our expectations of what being a princess is all about.
