Everyone Still Wants Courteney Cox & Matthew Perry to Get Together IRL

courteney cox, matthew perryHow amazing would it be if Monica and Chandler from Friends (i.e., Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry) were a couple IRL? So amazing that fans are willing to believe that a candid photo from 10 years ago is proof of a current romance!

The rabid rumors started this week when a fan tweeted a side-by-side photo of Cox and Perry having lunch next to Monica and Chandler on the show with the following observation: "Matthew looks at Courteney the same way Chandler looks at Monica and I don't know what to do with myself." And honestly? She's not wrong. Check it out:

Awwww, they're so adorable together!! The only problem, of course, is that the candid photo is from March 2005, when Cox was still married to David Arquette (you can see the wedding ring on her left hand). So this was nothing more than a Friend-ly lunch. Which happened a long, long time ago. So there was none of this:

But the fact that everybody's freaking out so much over the remote possibility that Cox and Perry might maybe sort of be smiling at each other in a potentially amorous way speaks to how amazing the couple's on-screen chemistry truly was. They were one of those sitcom pairs that viewers really, truly rooted for -- who didn't jump up and down cheering when they finally got together? (Oh, you didn't? Never mind, then.)

Anyway, fans who are unwilling to let go of this particular pipe dream can take comfort in the fact that Cox and Perry are both reportedly single right now, so, hey, you never know. And then we can be all like:

Come on, guys! Do it for the fans!! And, you know, each other. 'Cause you're obviously the perfect couple.
