Country Singer Joey Feek Celebrates First Grammy Nom During Her Last Days

All the feels! Country singer Joey Feek just got her first Grammy nomination on Monday, December 7, and it's a bittersweet moment indeed. Feek is currently in hospice care, battling terminal cancer.

Joey and her husband Rory make up the country duo Joey + Rory, and they've famously been sharing their story about her cancer. She was only diagnosed with cervical cancer last year, and recently decided to stop chemo treatments. They also have a 21-month-old daughter named Indiana.

Their song "If I need You" was nominated in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category, and when Joey heard about it, she was shocked.

Rory posted on their Facebook page, "...woke my bride up this morning with a baby in my arms and the news ... As her excitement and tears flowed into mine. She said, 'How can that be?' The song received no radio airplay ... no press ... no critical acclaim ... and the only music video we made for it was to celebrate the day our little Indiana was born."

The song is especially achingly beautiful given the context of what they're going through. They do need each other now, and are there for each other in a way that's inspiring to all of us sharing their story.

Congrats to the couple -- it's a well-deserved win, and their attitude doesn't cease to amaze me. Even with Joey in hospice care, they both gave their gratitude to God for the the Grammy nom. Rory wrote on his Facebook post, "God is so good. Thank you, thank you, thank you."

Grab some Kleenex and take a look at their video -- you're sure to shed a tear or two.
