Alanis Morissette Sings Hilarious Version of ‘Ironic’ on ‘The Late Late Show’ (VIDEO)

Alanis Morissette Late Late Show

Isn't it ironic? Alanis Morissette teamed up with James Corden of The Late Late Show to sing an updated version of her '90s angsty Gen X anthem, "Ironic." Oh wait, that's not really ironic at all ...

But that's okay -- neither were most of the lyrics in the first version! Ha!

Just playin' with ya, Alanis. I loved that song then, and I love hearing the funny new version, now.

"An old Friend sends a Facebook request / You only find out they're racist / After you accept ..." she starts out. It goes on from there, With updated lyrics that touch on all those #millennial issues of the generation who were, like, infants when the song first became a hit. (Wait, is THAT ironic?)

"It's like swiping left on your future soul mate / It's a Snapchat that you wish you had saved / It's a funny tweet that nobody faves / And who would've thought it figures..."

Check it out for yourself, and try not to get too distracted by your admiration of the duo's matching red beanies and braids (it's hard, I know):

Hearing this again reminds me of what a great voice she has! There's a reason this woman has won seven Grammys.

Extra props to Morissette for working in a jab at the sad state of affairs in the late-night hosting community: "It's ten thousand male late-night hosts / When all you want is just one woman ... seriously!"

Seriously, seriously!

And yes, I also love how Morissette even acknowledges her very loose interpretation of the definition of "irony" in the original song, something that's been the focus of many a rant over the last two decades. Oh Alanis. Heart you.
