Russell Brand Claims He Detested Being Married to Katy Perry (VIDEO)

In a new documentary, comedian Russell Brand slams ex-wife Katy Perry for being a vapid, vacuous celebrity. His film, called BRAND: A Second Coming, details in part how much Brand hates being famous and in the spotlight.

Quick question -- if he hates fame and vanity so much, why did he make a documentary about himself and relate himself to Jesus? Seems counterintuitive.

Anyway, the 40-year-old commented on his marriage to Perry, which last a mere 14 months before the pair divorced in 2011. He said, "Oh my f***ing God. I'm living this life of the very thing I detest ... vapid, vacuous celebrity. Fame and power is bull***t."

Take a look at the trailer for Brand's documentary, detailing how much he hates being in the spotlight. I especially love how it opens to him receiving tons of applause.

Well, at least he admits to being a narcissist. Honestly, I don't know how Katy Perry put up with him for as long as she did. What good is it to rake her over the coals for being "vapid" four years after their split? Is he just not over her or what?

As for Perry, she's kept it classy when referring to Brand. She told Vogue in 2013 that she was in love with him when they married, and that she thought he was very smart. She continued, "Let’s just say I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011."

She referenced him again earlier this year, telling the Daily Telegraph, "He [Brand] hasn't spoken to me since he texted me saying he was filing for divorce ... I don't want to talk about him -- my songs will say what I need to say."

That pretty much says all we need to know, doesn't it?
