Kate Middleton Is Determined to Play Matchmaker for Prince Harry

You may not think a handsome 31-year-old prince needs help in the romance department — but who wouldn't take direction from a duchess? Kate Middleton is reportedly serving as Prince Harry's dating guru, and she has one bit of advice for him: Marry a certain lovely blonde — and quick.

Kate reportedly believes in her heart of hearts that Harry's ex Chelsy Davy is "the one" and has been encouraging her brother-in-law to take the next crucial step and make an honest woman out of her. The two dated for seven years before splitting and going their separate ways. But, after Harry returned from performing charity work in Africa this summer, rumors began swirling that Harry and Chelsy were giving their relationship another try – and that an engagement could be expected in the near future.

Well, if you believe the latest gossip, Kate has a lot to do with Harry's attempts to rekindle the flame. She reportedly "vetted" both Chelsy and ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas and found the former to be far more capable of living a royal life. Chelsy reportedly has reservations about joining the royal family because it is so far removed from the life she knows, but Kate was able to quell all of her fears.

More from The Stir: Kate Middleton Supposedly Wants Prince Harry With His Ex to Save Her Own Marriage

I'm sure Kate has her opinions about Harry's girlfriends and would like to see him settle down with someone sweet and kind. There aren't many women in the world who can relate to Kate's position and status in the royal family — as a commoner who is now a royal — so why wouldn't she be eager to form an ally within the family?

But Harry has made it crystal clear he is not interested in marriage right now. He simply isn't ready and has said he has lots of other priorities that are taking the place of settling down. If he and Chelsy are dating again, I'm sure they have a lot of lost time to make up for and aren't going to rush into marriage — and why the heck should they? If I were Harry, I would respect Kate's thoughts because, you know, woman's intuition and all that, but at the same, I would ignore all this marriage chatter around me.

Harry will settle down when he — and the lucky woman, whoever she is — are good and ready. I'm pretty sure Kate can understand and respect that, no matter how eager she might be for George and Charlotte to have little cousins.
