Mean Tweets Are No Match for Benedict Cumberbatch (VIDEO)

One of the best things to come out of the advent of social media is Jimmy Kimmel's "Celebrities Read Mean Tweets" segment. But you won't believe what someone had the audacity to post about Benedict Cumberbatch.

Traditionally stars were prerecorded reading these "so heinous they're hilarious" comments for the show, but this season there's a bit of a twist. Now celebs are invited to Jimmy's stage to read the tweets live in front of a studio audience and the first slew of guests was nothing short of amazing.

Jeff Bridges, Kristen Bell, and Benedict Cumberbatch were all good sports on the first night of the new format (which will continue rolling out this week with more stars), but it was Benedict who had the absolute best comeback to a hateful tweet as you can see here.

I love that guy! Personally I can't believe someone would be so bold as to question the attractiveness of the Sherlock Holmes star, who has such a huge legion of female fans that they're dubbed the Cumberbitches. That chiseled face coupled with the British accent is gorgeous indeed.

I also have to wonder if anyone sets out to have their mean tweet read on Jimmy's show. The segment is so popular it wouldn't necessarily surprise me, although my guess is people are just plain mean on social media because they can be.

We love you, Benedict, just the way you are.
