Many couples and single parents have realized their baby dreams through surrogacy, including celebrities who are openly talking about the experience and the special bond with the women who gave birth to their children. 

Actress Elizabeth Banks says she’s learned generosity and gratitude from the surrogate births of her two sons. Other stars, such as Neil Patrick Harris and his partner, David Burtka, were doubly happy to learn they were expecting twins.

Here are proud mamas and papas who used surrogates.

  • Jimmy Fallon & Nancy Juvonen

    The Tonight Show’s Fallon and his wife surprised the world with news of their second daughter’s birth on Dec. 3. In an interview on Today, Fallon said they opted for surrogacy for their firstborn Winnie Rose, who turned 2 in July, after “trying a while to have a baby.” The couple kept the new pregnancy by surrogate mother under wraps until Frances Cole’s arrival.

    One of the newest members of the mommy club, the Elementary actress announced via social media in August of 2015 that she was the proud mother of Rockwell Lloyd Liu, born via gestation carrier. “Introducing the new little man in my life,” she gushed on Instagram, accompanied by a black-and-white photo of herself and little Rockwell.

    Pregnancy was too dangerous for the Fashion Police panelist following her 2011 early-stage breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent double mastectomy. The couple’s son Duke was born in 2012 via a surrogate. The Rancics, who star in the reality show Giuliana & Bill, have openly discussed their struggles with fertility and recently revealed their surrogate who was pregnant with their third and final embryo miscarried on New Year’s Eve 2013.

    The Aussie superstars welcomed daughter Sunday Rose in July 2008 by natural childbirth but opted for a gestational carrier for their second daughter, Faith Margaret, born in December, 2010. Last year the Academy Award–winning actress told Australian broadcasters she and Urban were hoping for another biological child.

    SJP gave birth to the couple’s son first son, James Wilkie, in 2002 but used a surrogate for twins Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell born in June, 2009. Parker said complications prevented her from successful pregnancies. The happy couple were elated to learn they were expecting twins.

    The American Idol finalist and frontman for the band Daughtry and his wife of 15 years used a surrogate to carry fraternal twins Adalynn Rose and Noah James due to Deanna’s partial hysterectomy. The Grammy-nominated singer called the children, born in 2010, “two precious gifts from God.”

He met his mini-me as soon as Portugal was eliminated from the tournament.

    The Frasier star and his former Playboy model wife went the surrogacy route for their two children after Camille, then 33, was told she likely couldn’t carry a child to term. Daughter Mason Olivia, now 13, and son Jude Gordon, 11, are the exes’ biological children created from his sperm and her eggs and born to an unidentified surrogate mother in 2001 and 2004.

    Sir Elton and his husband used the same egg donor and surrogate mother for both sons. Zachary Jackson Levin was born on Christmas day in 2010 and Elijah Joseph Daniel turned 2 in January, 2015. The couple has decided not to find out either of the boys' paternity.
