The Details of Josh Duggar's Rumored Rehab Sound Awfully Familiar

josh duggarWhile some celebrity rehabs sound more like posh vacation spots, Reformers Unanimous, the facility where Josh Duggar is rumored to be getting over his pornography/sex addiction, is "not a country club," according to its director, Tony Richardson. But what is it, exactly?

Richardson says Reformers is a "no-frills" treatment program "based solely on The Bible." The Rockford, Illinois, facility was once a nursing home, apparently, and can house up to 40 men at once: "Patients are placed two to a room, each with a shared closet, bunk bed, and two desks. There's no email, no cell phones, and little television. The patients can watch approved TV shows on Saturdays and Sundays, and there is a game room for free time. Mornings begin early, and lights out is at 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. on weekends."

Richardson likens the experience to college, but not as "nice."

"We call it to the school of discipleship. The closer you get to the Lord, the further you get from what brought you here," he says. It's worth noting that the center has no medical credentials -- it claims to rehabilitate men through Bible study and hard work. Hmmm.

Because of patient confidentiality, Richardson would neither confirm nor deny that Josh is at Reformers, but says that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have a "relationship" with the center, and have served as keynote speakers there in the past.

To be sure, Reformers sounds a heck of a lot like the sort of Christian labor camp Josh was sent to after molesting his sisters ... and we all know how that worked out. Charging approximately $7,500 for a six-month stay, Reformers is definitely less expensive than the fancy rehab facilities most celebs choose for this kind of thing, but what's the point if it doesn't actually do anything? And it's not like the Duggars don't have the means to send him to a real rehab. So the whole thing makes me wonder if they've really realized the extent of his issues, or that he's obviously in need of a new approach if he's ever going to get over his "porn addiction" and other behavioral problems, to put it mildly.

I guess only time will tell.
