Kate Middleton Makes a Huge Splash With Her Latest Hobby

kate middletonFurther proof Kate Middleton is not your average mum: Instead of holing up in the palace in a pair of sweats with her toddler and newborn the way most postpartum ladies do, the duchess just earned her advanced diving certification. Um, way to make the rest of us feel like slackers!

According to "royal officials," deep sea diving is "a sport she very much enjoys alongside the duke" -- and considering Prince William is the  president of the British Sub-Aqua Club, that's probably a good thing. I mean, it's always helpful when you and your spouse share the same interests, right? Plus, the sport will no doubt turn into a family affair at some point.

"I hope that one day my son, George, will also experience the wonders that snorkeling and scuba diving have to offer," said Prince William last year, adding, "At the moment bath time is quite painful, but hopefully donning a snorkel and mask might calm him down!"

More from The Stir: Kate Middleton's Mum Reportedly Has Prince Charles All Bent Out of Shape Over the Grandkids

Get ready, Charlotte! Of course it'll be a few years yet before the kids can actually join their royal parents under the waves, but I think it's awesome that Kate is getting herself ready for the eventuality -- AND that she's out there passing diving certification tests three months after popping out her second kid! The requirements are no joke: In order to be certified, divers must prove that they can "plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving," refine "compass navigation skills," and navigate by using "kick-cycles, visual landmarks, and time."

Jeez, Kate. I was still working on zipping up my old pants three months after I had my last baby, but good for you! Still, us regular moms shouldn't feel too bad, considering Kate is, oh, you know, a princess, so she probably has a lot more help than we do. Still, congrats! And I can't wait to see pics of little George in a wetsuit.
