Jessa Duggar Breaks Her Social Media Silence to Welcome New Niece (PHOTO)

The Duggars have been pretty quiet on social media since the cancellation of their popular TLC show, but today Jessa Duggar broke her silence to share a sweet snap of her new niece on Instagram.

Josh Duggar's wife, Anna, gave birth to a baby girl on Sunday. Jessa posted a photo of the new baby, named Meredith Grace, swaddled in a white blanket. She also shared a short message about how excited she is to welcome her into the family.

Meredith is baby number four for Josh and Anna Duggar, and she comes amid serious controversy for the family. The Duggars' show 19 Kids And Counting was cancelled by TLC just days ago as a result of Josh's admission that he molested four of his sisters, including Jessa, and a babysitter at the age of 14.

Since his admission, the public has been vocal about their concern for his victims and for Josh's own children, but Jessa is apparently brushing all of that aside in favor of showing off her new niece. It's the latest example of the entire Duggar clan choosing to ignore the media firestorm in favor of standing behind Josh and his growing family.

It's difficult to watch the Duggars downplay Josh's violations and carry on as though nothing happened. Obviously a baby is a joyous occasion and no one would expect them to be somber about her arrival, but it's hard to ignore the cloud of controversy she was born into.

Jessa seems to be doing her best to keep a positive outlook and surround baby Meredith with love. Jessa's own child is due in November, so hopefully the rest of her pregnancy will be stress-free and we'll be seeing Instagram shots of her adorable little one soon too.
