Arnold Schwarzenegger Still Thinks of Maria Shriver as His 'Wife'

maria shriver and arnold schwarzeneggerEven though Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver finalized their divorce in 2014, it seems the former governor of California still thinks of the Kennedy scion as his "wife." Say what?

In a recent interview with Howard Stern, the actor revealed that despite his infidelity with the family housekeeper that yielded a son, Joseph Baena, Maria and their four kids are still totally supportive of him.

While promoting his latest film, Terminator Genisys, they even sent a thoughtful surprise to his hotel. He explains:

I walk into the room and I see the room full of balloons ... It was from all four kids and from my wife. There was a note -- 'You're the greatest dad, the greatest man, we love you, Dad' -- each one sent a card. Each one sent a gift. That's the relationship we have.

Wow, that's pretty incredible, right? Maria certainly sounds like one amazing woman to have such a generous attitude toward her ex. But wait a second, why is Arnold still referring to her as his "wife" -- kind of strange, right? We get it, they were married for 28 years, and Arnold has always been contrite about his "mistakes," but still, it's odd, isn't it?

It's probably great for the kids that their parents' split is so amicable, but for Maria it has to be a little off-putting to hear that Arnold still thinks of her as his "wife" -- especially since she's supposedly moved on and begun dating. (Unless Arnold is referring to some secret new wife no one knows about!)

Even after his affair with the maid was revealed, Arnold publicly stated that he thought he and Maria would one day reconcile. Sounds like either he's a little controlling or just having a hard time coming to terms with the split. After all, it took them three years to finalize their divorce!

It'll be interesting to see if Maria has anything to say about her ex's choice of phrasing!

How would you feel if your ex referred to you as his "wife" post-divorce?
