Kim Kardashian to Speak Out On the Objectification of Women

There are people who have a lot of words to say about Kim Kardashian. Many of those words aren't very kind. But we should all remind ourselves that Kim is a person, a mother, a daughter -- she has feelings and emotions. And quite simply, it's better to be nice than mean -- we all learned that in elementary school, right? Kim, whose book Selfish just came out causing many snickers, is making the rounds promoting it, but she's also speaking out about the objectification of women in the media.

Some may think -- Kim Kardashian is speaking out against objectification of women in the media -- what?! Some may feel she is part of the objectification with her book Selfish and her many risque photos she shares of herself on social media. But let's remember this: Just because a woman is wearing a short skirt, doesn't mean she's asking to be violated. We can apply the same logic here.

I love that Kim, while hosting June 30's "Kim Kardashian West Live!" at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, California, will not only address her fame and how it all happened, but she'll discuss this very real issue women face. This lecture could bring out an excellent discussion on the matter. We are women. We have breasts and curves and it's not a crime, nor should it invite catcalls and harassment and injustices and crime. I'm looking forward to hearing what she has to say, and most of all, hope her words (which clearly have great reach) could help bring change.

What do you think of the news that Kim is speaking about the objectification of women in the media?
