Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Planning to Go in a Different 'Direction' With New Baby's Name

Since finding out Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are going to be parents for the second time (congrats!), the world has shifted its focus from Kim's fertility issues to happier news: now that there is a bun in the oven, what will the couple name him/her? We've got the scoop on the names the couple will not choose this time around.

Kimye's untraditional pick for their firstborn princess, North West, has lots of folks wondering whether Baby #2 will be stuck with the somewhat less potent moniker South, East, or — heaven forbid — West West. But what Kim and Kanye are thinking in terms of baby names for their second child may shock you — because they're going for a more traditional route.

A couple close to Kim and Kanye said they have no intention on naming their second child a name inspired by direction, not because they think there is anything wrong with the names South, East, Easton, or West, but because North is incredibly powerful and the other directional names simply don't compare. I have to say: I agree. Who would want to be named "South," which makes one think of a life plummeting into a downward spiral, when his or her big sister has been christened with a name that reminds people things are always looking up for her?

So what names are they considering? Apparently, Kimye is thinking about honoring lost family members, which could mean their little boy or girl is getting a somewhat traditional name. Kim's biological dad is Robert George Kardashian, a powerful attorney who died of cancer of the esophagus in 2003. Kanye's late mom, a professor named Donda West, died in 2007 of heart disease when she was just 58 years old.

Both Kim and Kanye have spoken in the past about how close they were to their parents and the devastation they felt losing them so early in life. It makes perfect sense that they would choose to celebrate them by giving their second daughter or son their name. The question now is: will they combine their parents' names to form a unique one or play it safe and go for "Robert" or "Donda?"

What do you think Kim and Kanye will name their second child?
