A dream came true for Gilmore Girls fans last night when the cast and producers of the beloved series reunited for a tell-all panel at the TX Television Festival Saturday night in Austin, Texas: Lorelai and Rory, together again!! Sadly, however, dreams were also dashed by the announcement that no Gilmore Girls movie is in the works after all. (Lorelai and Rory, together again ... for a very brief time!) Still, die-hard devotées were happy to find out what their favorite characters are up to today -- or at least what the actors THINK they're up to today.

Here's what the actors believe their character creations would be doing now (in some alternate Gilmore Girls universe):

1. Alexis Bledel thinks Rory is a "hard-working journalist."

2. Matt Czuchry says independently-wealthy Logan “would not be working.”

3. Milo Ventimiglia says Jess is “just being Jess, walking away when too many people show up.”

4. Keiko Agena says “Lane is figuring out what kind of mom she wants to be. She wants to be Lorelai, but I think in her heart, she’s a little Mrs. Kim. … I hope she’s still playing music with Hep Alien.”

5. Jared Padalecki believes Dean “would have worked long and hard at Doose’s Market" and turned it into Dean’s Market.

6. Liza Weil and Danny Strong think Paris and Doyle are still together.

Those all sound like pretty plausible scenarios, right? Although sadly, we may never know for sure (because of that whole aforementioned "no movie" thing, but who knows?). At least we DO know what the actors are up to -- just look at this pic!

Awww! Are you totally verklempt? (Oh, yes you are. Just admit it.) Here's hoping we see lots more togetherness for the Gilmore Girls cast in the future, in one format or another.

What do you think the Gilmore Girls characters would be up to now?
