Bruce Jenner Will Appear on 'Vanity Fair' Cover As a Woman

Since revealing that she is transitioning from male to female, Bruce Jenner has said that she wants to use her celebrity to spread awareness for transgender issues and help anyone who needs it. Well, she's doing it: Jenner will appear on the cover Vanity Fair for the first time as a woman — making a bold and powerful statement.

Jenner, who bravely gave a candid interview to Diane Sawyer last month, says she has always felt like a woman and that her transition actually began when she was a child. So while some of us may still be shocked to see her wearing makeup and a dress when the magazine hits newsstands in June, this is Jenner's natural state. I can only see her becoming a happier, more fulfilled person as she finally gets to live life as the person she feels like inside.

The cover is huge news — both for Jenner and his family and for society. Although the transgender community is receiving more positive attention that ever before — thanks in part to celebs like Orange Is the New Black's Laverne Cox appearing on the cover of Time (which was phenomenal), Aydian Dowling possibly becoming the first transgender activist to score the cover of Men's Health, and transgender model Andreja Pejic snagging a major beauty campaign with Make Up For Ever — we still have a long way to go before everybody understands and accepts them for their choice to transition.

Jenner, 65, who has yet to reveal her new name (I'm thinking it will surely pop up in the Vanity Fair article) was photographed for the cover by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz — who also shot Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and little North for Vogue — so you know it's going to be a great one.

I'm expecting Jenner to look incredibly glam and gorgeous. More importantly, I hope her interview will provide even more insight into her feelings about transitioning so that she can help anyone out there who is conflicting by his or her own gender identity.
