Is TLC Replacing the Duggars With an Even More Conservative Family?

There's a new show coming to TLC, and from the looks of the preview, they're going to give the Counting On crew a run for their money. The Plath family only has nine kids (less than half of the Duggars' 19), but they seem to follow the same ultra-conservative, fundamentalist lifestyle as the Duggars. We're talking adults who have never even taken a sip of Coca-Cola here.

Check out this preview for 'Welcome to Plathville,' coming soon to TLC.

As pointed out by The Holly Gossip, "the ultra-sheltered Plath kids make the Duggars look like the Kardashians by comparison."

They have never watched TV. They have never tasted soda. They don't know who Spider-Man is, and even the kid who claims to love football has never heard of Tom Brady. And it looks like things are shaking up their family dynamic thanks to the addition of a daughter-in-law to the mix.

The Duggar family is famous for its ultra-conservative lifestyle.

The Duggars have strict purity standards that include banning front-hugs for unmarried couples, not kissing before the wedding day, and even a dress code that disallows their daughters from wearing pants until they leave the house. Oh, and they're only allowed to leave the house if they leave with a husband.

It looks like the Plaths follow a lot of the same standards. After all, the Duggars aren't allowed to watch TV either...

If TLC is trying to phase the Duggars out, could it have something to do with what son-in-law Derick Dillard has been saying about patriarch Jim Bob Duggar?

Jill (Duggar) and her husband Derick Dillard left the show a few seasons ago, and Derick has gone on numerous attacks over how Jim Bob handles the family's contracts and finances.

According to the aspiring lawyer, the adult children do not have their own contracts, and are considered "volunteers" on the show. He even recently claimed that TLC wouldn't even cover about $10K in medical bills amassed after their second son, Samuel, had to spend time in the NICU after being born via emergency C-section.

We have no idea if that's actually true or not, but it's clear there's some sort of feud in the family about how they handle the show.

Somehow, we don't think this family is going anywhere.

After all, think of the crossover potential between these two families ... We're willing to bet that they run in the same Christian fundamentalist circles ... we sniff a future arranged courtship and wedding special, is all we're saying.
