Tiger Woods & Lindsey Vonn Call It Quits After 3 Years

Is anyone really shocked? Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn have decided to part ways, after nearly three years together. They both took to social media on Sunday, May 3, to announce the breakup and give the usual celeb spiel about love and respect.

On her Facebook page, Vonn wrote:

Tiger and I have mutually decided to end our relationship. I will always cherish the memories that we've created together. Unfortunately, we both lead incredibly hectic lives that force us to spend a majority of our time apart. I will always admire and respect Tiger. He and his beautiful family will always hold a special place in my heart.

The golf champ confirmed the split and echoed her sentiments on his personal website. In a personal message, Tiger wrote, "Lindsey and I have mutually decided to stop dating ... I have great admiration, respect and love for Lindsey and I'll always cherish our time together. She has been amazing with Sam and Charlie and my entire family."

He continued, "Unfortunately, we lead very hectic lives and are both competing in demanding sports. It's difficult to spend time together."

The sporty couple (she's a gold medalist Olympic skier) met at a charity event in 2012, and made their relationship public in March 2013. It was Tiger's first high-profile relationship since the 2010 cheating bombshell that ended his marriage with Elin Nordegren.

Despite Woods' sordid history, Vonn never seemed to care, and even gushed about his strong personality. She recently told Today that he was an integral part of helping her heal from her infamous knee injury. She said, "I'm not a very patient person. He's very patient and mentally tough ... he said just be patient, keep working hard, and everything is going to turn around. It really helped me get through it."

As for how she felt about the critics of her relationship with the former (we hope) serial cheater, she said, "I don't really care what anyone else thinks ... as long as we're happy that's what matters."

You know, I gotta say I'm sad to see them part ways. She seemed to be really good for him in a lot of ways, and she was obviously happy there for a time. But when you stop making each other a priority, and busy schedules take over, things are bound to breakdown eventually.

Are you surprised to hear that Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn have broken up?
