Elizabeth Banks Hits Tara Reid Where It Hurts the Most

Can you feel the burn from all the way over there? Hunger Games actress Elizabeth Banks just threw some major shade at Tara Reid, using her as an example of a failure in Hollywood.

The 41-year-old recently dished to The Hollywood Reporter about the actresses she used to audition with when she was just beginning her career.

"There was a group of us girls coming up," she said. "A lot of us are surviving. Some of us are not." That's fine, and of course true. Show business is a tough one to break into, after all.

Then she continued. "I used to go to auditions with Tara Reid," she shared. "So, you know, we didn't all make it. We're not all still here." Seeming to notice her diss, Banks quickly added, "I do love Sharknado."

Well who doesn't love Sharknado, in all of its campy, sci-fi gloriousness?

But geez, to specifically call out Tara Reid as essentially a has-been? That's kind of a low blow, and one that will likely hit Tara where it hurts most. The now 39-year-old was an up-and-comer after her breakout roll in the 1999 flick American Pie, which also starred actresses Alyson Hannigan, Mena Suvari, Natasha Lyonne, and Shannon Elizabeth.

Since then, her career has taken a nosedive, and her personal life has pretty much become tabloid fodder. It's just sort of rude for Banks to come after her specifically like that.

Tara's going to keep it classy though. After hearing about the dig, she told TMZ, "I've always been a fan of her work and that's sad to hear she said those things about me." She also said she'd "smile and say hi" if she ever runs into Banks.

Why do you think Elizabeth Banks singled out Tara Reid?
