Richard Gere Shares Big Secret During 'Pretty Woman' Cast Reunion & It's All So Obvious Now (VIDEO)

Can you believe it has been 25 years since we fell in love with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere in Pretty Woman? The cast reunited on Today  Tuesday morning and we got to find out a bit of juicy, hot gossip: we weren't the only ones who fell head over heels for Julia—Gere reveals a few secrets that have us convinced Edward and Vivian could have totally existed (minus the whole prostitution thing, obviously) because he obviously had the hots for her in a major way.

While Julia was one of the first stars cast in Pretty Woman—which was originally called 3,000 and was a dark, cautionary tale about the pitfalls of drug abuse, if you can believe it—Gere admitted he wasn't at all interested in the role of a filthy rich businessman who picks up a prostitute.

He changed his tune rather quickly when he met the prostitute. Er, Julia.

After insisting to the movie's director, Garry Marshall, that you could put a "suit on a goat" and the role would work for anyone, Marshall wisely trotted Julia over to Richard's apartment so they could meet.

And the rest was history. He says he couldn't take his eyes off of her and that he was "mesmerized" by her. The only reason he agreed to do the movie was because Julia pushed a post-it note toward him at one point that read: "Just say yes." How could he resist?

And there's more proof that Gere, maybe, wanted to take their instant chemistry and run with it. When Matt Lauer asks the cast to recall their favorite scene, Julia immediately brings up the funny one where she's driving Edward's car all around Hollywood. Richard's answer? Any scene where Julia is walking. Especially in those boots.

But don't take my word for it. Remember these scenes? Look a little closer and you'll see Gere isn't acting, guys. These two were meant to be (for a moment in time, at least):

It's a pity we don't get to see Gere's jaw drop when Julia was filmed walking the street in her boots. But now the secret is out and we all know he showed up on set this day, even though it was probably his day off ... you know, just in case anyone needed him. Uh huh:

Oh my lord, the piano scene. The way he pulls her toward him. Killer:

Right. He's totally not feeling this bathtub scene, is he?

And, the romantic ending? That is a genuine smile on this man's face:

Check out the interview. It's all kinds of adorable and sweet:

Do you think Julia Roberts and Richard Gere had good chemistry in Pretty Woman?
