All-Female 'A-Force' Avengers Team Will Be All Kinds of Awesome

Get ready for some kick-butt girl power coming to a comic book store near you! Marvel just announced that they've assembled an all-female Avengers team, which will debut this spring. Called A-Force, this group of fictional fan favorite females will include She-Hulk, Dazzler, Medusa, and Nico Minoru.

The A-Force series is written by Marguerite Bennett (Angela: Asgard's Assassin) and G. Willow Wilson (X-Men) and drawn by Jorge Molina (X-Men), who were told to gather characters from across the Marvel universe to assemble a new superhero team, with only one caveat -- they had to be girls. They also created one new character, Singularity, who is "a cosmically powered hero."

Wilson told USA Today, "[Marvel has] become very committed ... in the last couple of years to telling new stories, to gender diversity, to getting more voices out there so they said, 'Here's the roster. Go nuts.'"

How cool is that? Comic books have a reputation for being a "boy thing," but hopefully this will get girls more interested. Besides, all kids need to see heroes of both genders, to expand their worldview and not limit their creativity and imagination.

Besides, it turns out that reading graphic novels is actually good for your brain.

And you know it's likely going to be a movie someday, and while we love Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, we know it's really the kick-butt females like Anna Paquin Scarlett Johansson who really steal the screen.

Do you think girls will be interested in A-Force?
