Katy Perry Rides Into Super Bowl Halftime On a Lion & Flies Out On a Shooting Star

Holy moley, whether you love, like, or feel indifferent toward Katy Perry, there was no way you could watch her perform at this year's Super Bowl halftime show and think she earned her supper. The lady put on a show to end all shows. No nip slips, no crazy antics—just a performance that included everything from a colossal mechanical lion to the singer taking flight on a shooting star.

The sexy pop star made her grand entrance atop a gigantic animatronic lion, wearing a costume that made her look like she was on fire, while belting out her hit Roar. Instead of relying on her sex appeal, which I admit I assumed she would do, she blew NFL fans away by putting on the Las Vegas of halftime shows.

There were trippy inflatable sharks and palm trees with googly eyes, which be-bopped beside her as she sang Teenage Dream. There were guest appearances by both Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliot, both of whom were totally fine, but if we're being honest here, the girl didn't need anyone else on stage with her. She owned it. She killed it.

Okay, I may be lying just a bit because Missy was AMAZING. But, really, Katy held her own.

And then there was her spectacular finale, in which she treated the crowd to a rendition of Firework while flying across the stadium ... on a freaking firework. And it looked like this:

Anyone who complained that Katy didn't have the star power of a Madonna or Aerosmith or, dare I say her name—Miss Taylor Swift—just got glitter bombed a hundred times over by the most sparkly halftime show in halftime history.

What did you think of Katy Perry's halftime performance?
