Amy Duggar's Bombshell Revelation May Rock the Whole Family

Amy DuggarDude ... Amy Duggar just dropped a bombshell -- she admitted publicly that she was born out of wedlock. Ardent fans of the show 19 Kids and Counting may have already been aware of this little nugget of information, but this marks the first time the reality star has spoken out about the circumstances of her birth.

The 27-year-old aspiring country singer has taken some heat in the past for doing things a little bit differently than her aunt and uncle, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar. For example, she dates instead of courts, and she openly kisses her boyfriend, Dillon King, even though the two aren't even engaged yet, let alone married.

Talk about the black sheep of the family! But we kind of love her for it.

Anyway, the Duggars came under controversy several months ago for supposedly shunning Suzanna Keller (younger sister of Anna Duggar, Josh's wife) for having a baby out of wedlock.

However, a peek at the Duggar family blog reveals that Josh and Anna are not only not shunning Suzanna, but spent part of Christmas with her, and their daughter Mackynzie dressed up like an angel with her little cousin Noelle. That's not exactly shunning.

Even so, this is the first time a Duggar relative has come out and spoken so openly about such an obvious sin, and treated it like it wasn't the end of the world, and we kind of wonder if this will have any implications for the younger kids in the Duggar clan.

More from The Stir: The Next Duggar Wedding May Be a Controversial One

Amy shared this photo of her parents, Deanna Duggar, 52, and artist Terry Jordan, 53, on Instagram this week, along with the caption, "The tabloids are telling the truth, my mom and dad did have me out of wedlock. Just because we are Christians doesn't make us perfect, it just makes us forgiven. Just because I share the Duggar name doesn't mean my life is perfect! God knew my uncle would have a hit show and that somehow I would be apart of it. He knew my parents story would be told. How amazing is that?! Your testimony is everything."

While it's unclear if Terry is her biological father, it's obvious she considers him her dad. She also wished him a happy birthday recently, referring to him as "Daddio."

Happy birthday to my Daddio! Who I love very much!

Deanna and Terry married in 2006, after "several years" of dating, according to Radar.

We can't help but wonder if Jim Bob and Michelle are concerned over Amy being so open about being born out of wedlock. While she doesn't condone it, the fact that she's treating it so lightly may make some of the younger Duggars change their opinions on waiting until their wedding days to share a first kiss.

On the other hand, what a great way to show that it takes all kinds, and that the love of Christ can transcend and heal, even when we make mistakes.

Do you think it's a big deal that Amy Duggar was born out of wedlock?
