Mark Ruffalo was The Man at the SAG Awards on Sunday, January 25, and the dude didn't even bother to get dressed. Even though the lovable actor won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for The Normal Heart, he wore pajamas. In all fairness, he wasn't able to be in attendance, but that didn't stop him from getting three rounds of applause, nor from giving an acceptance speech.
After Jared Leto and Lupita Nyong'o presented the award to Ruffalo, it was revealed that he wasn't there to accept the award. Leto announced to the crowd, "It's a no-show," and of course everyone cheered for the winner as if he were there, and his award was accepted on his behalf.
Right after that, the president of the Screen Actors Guild, Ken Howard, took the stage to introduce a montage. Normal awards show stuff, of course. But before he did that, he asked the audience to cheer for Ruffalo again -- his second round of applause of the evening.
Meanwhile, the award-winning actor Instagrammed a selfie from his bed, wearing his pajamas, thanking everyone he didn't get a chance to onstage! He captioned it, "Upon waking and hearing from my wife and kids that I won a @sagawards for #TheNormalHeart Love wins tonight!"
Ruffalo was unable to be at the awards because he was across the pond for another role. As he explained to a fan before the ceremony, "I am in London working and they couldn't clear me to get there and back here in time. With my luck it will be the one I win ..." Let's call him a lucky man, shall we?
But that didn't stop him from taking to Twitter to give his own social media acceptance speech.
He thanked his wife and kids for waking him to share the news that he had won and went on from there.
Ha ha ha! Sunny and my kids just woke me up to tell me I won a SAG award. Have to be at work in 4 hours. Thank you! @SAGawards

Phew! I think that about covers everyone. The best thing about Twitter? No one can strike up the orchestra to cut your acceptance speech short.
But wait! There was still one more round of applause in store for Ruffalo. When his The Normal Heart costar Julia Roberts got up to present the SAG for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role (which was won by Eddie Redmayne, by the way), she announced, "They had a wordy little tongue twister for me to start with about how wonderful actors are, but instead I just want to say, Mark Ruffalo is one outstanding actor ... and I am so absolutely tickled to my toes that he won tonight. He wasn't here!"
And that is the story of how Mark Ruffalo got three rounds of applause for winning a SAG while wearing his pajamas.
What's the most important event you've ever missed?
