Eminem Visits Terminally Ill Boy 1 Day Before He Dies

EminemEminem has done some pretty shady things in his life and career that have made us raise more than an eyebrow, but the Grammy-winning rapper recently did something super sweet. He visited a terminally ill teen whose lifelong dream was to meet him -- and the boy died the next day.

The singer met with 17-year-old Gage Garmo in his Rochester, Michigan living room this past weekend, after learning that he had only one week to live. The teen was diagnosed with bone cancer three years ago, during his freshman year of high school.

Garmo passed away the next day, on Monday, January 12.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the pair kicked it in his family home, and talked about hip-hop and football.

Even though Garmo has undergone numerous treatments for his cancer over the years, an "abrupt downturn" last week made it clear that his days were numbered in the single digits. His friends and family immediately took to social media to try and make his dream of meeting Eminem come true.

The Rainbow Connection, an organization that grants wishes to terminally ill children, got word of it, and set up a meeting within 48 hours. The executive director praised the Real Slim Shady for being ""able on such short notice" to visit Garmo.

Another employee for the charity said that Gage "sat up with a grin on his face" when meeting his idol. "His family hadn't seen their son do that in such a long time," she added.

We have to hand it to Eminem, and no doubt he thought of his own daughter Hailie, who isn't much older than this boy. Losing a child is one of the worst tragedies a family can ever go through, and I'm glad he was able to bring a smile to their son's face before he left the world too soon. It was more than a gift to the dying teen -- it's something his whole family will remember forever.

Are you surprised that Eminem stepped up to the plate so readily and quickly to make this teen's wish come true?
