Amy Adams Pulled From 'Today Show' Because She Wouldn't Talk About 1 Thing

Amy Adams

I don't know about you, but if I never hear the words "Sony" and "hack" ever again -- it'll be a good day! The latest fallout from this mess barely even makes sense. Apparently, Amy Adams was scheduled to appear on The Today Show yesterday to promote her new movie Big Eyes. They even teased that she was in the upcoming segment so she was definitely there and booked. And then Amy never went on. Why?

According to reports, she was yanked for refusing to discuss the Sony hacks!

Apparently, when Amy arrived at The Today Show, producers informed her that she would be asked about the hacking. Amy said she would prefer to "avoid the subject." Fair enough -- that really should have been the end of it. But instead the producers wouldn't take no for an answer and said that, "Today is a news organization." So, the segment was pulled and Deadline reports that Amy -- who by the way, stayed in town an extra day after hosting Saturday Night Live over the weekend JUST to do The Today Show -- left feeling "man-handled" and "sad-eyed." Can you blame her?

The Today Show even released this fairly aggressive statement about the incident, saying:

As a news program, the Today show doesn’t allow guests to dictate restrictions on interviews. In this case, after hours of discussion we felt uncomfortable with the demands being made and we determined the best course of action for all parties involved was to cancel the interview.

Now, the reason why Today was adamant about including the Sony hacks in Amy's interview was because Amy starred in American Hustle -- a Sony film -- exactly one year ago. In the emails that were leaked from the hack, it came out that Amy and her female co-star Jennifer Lawrence were paid significantly less than their male co-stars Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale. So of course they wanted Amy's take on the teeny, tiny, minuscule part she played in the whole hacking mess.

But the one detail of this whole thing that makes me so mad is that Bradley Cooper was on The Today Show this week too and they did NOT ask him about any of this! But it's okay to pick on Amy because she's a woman in Hollywood? No, no, no. Both Amy and Bradley starred in American Hustle and both their names were mentioned in the leaked emails so sorry then they both should have been asked about it (or they BOTH should have NOT been asked). I also think that the questions that need to be asked of this scandal moving forward need to be directed to the powers that be at Sony who put this information in emails, the American government, and North Korea. Leave the innocent victims -- like Amy Adams -- alone!

Was The Today Show wrong to pull Amy's interview?
