Kate Middleton & Prince Will Get Extra Security On NYC Trip As Protests Continue

You expect that, wherever they go, Prince William and Kate Middleton are going to be surrounded by the best security guards in the business. But as New York City prepares for the royal couple's arrival today -- they will spend three days in the Big Apple -- great pains are being taken to provide even more protection for them as protests rage on after a grand jury decided not to indict a police officer for killing Eric Garner this summer. Their trip is also taking place at the same time the New York Police Department has received a chilling warning about a group that is reportedly "preparing to shoot on-duty police officers." Maybe not the best time for the couple to visit?

An intel unit will reportedly work with Kate and Will's dignitaries to ensure nothing happens to them while they're in New York. The couple plan on visiting a school for children with special needs and a children's mental health center -- as well as paying their respects at the National Sept. 11 Memorial and having a little fun by taking in a Cleveland Cavaliers-Brooklyn Nets basketball game.

Ordinarily, this would be nothing but an exciting trip -- for both the royal couple and New Yorkers. But the city hasn't exactly been a peaceful oasis since a Staten Island grand jury decided not to indict Police Officer Daniel Pantaleo for the chokehold death of Eric Garner.

This weekend, NYPD received a warning that ten members of a group called the Black Guerilla Family is planning to shoot on-duty police officers. It isn't certain whether the Garner decision and protests have anything to do with this, but police officers have been warned to wear vests and carry their firearms even when they are off-duty.

I'm sure Kate and Will are not going to even be a thought in the minds of anyone who is planning something nefarious in the city. It does, however, beg the question of whether now is the ideal time for pregnant Kate and Will to visit NYC -- for both the Royal Couple's sake and because the city's police force already has its hands full.

What do you think? Should Kate and Will have postponed their New York City trip?
