Brooke Shields Reveals the Heartbreaking Way She Lost 'It' to Dean Cain

Brooke ShieldsHoly moly. Brooke Shields may have been a teenage sex symbol, but she was also a famous virgin back in the day. Now in her new memoir, There Was a Little Girl: The Real Story of My Mother and Me, she's revealed what her first time was like and the famous actor she lost her virginity to.

Brooke Shields lost her V-card to Superman. Well, technically, Dean Cain, but come on, won't Dean Cain always be our favorite TV version of the Man of Steel?

In the book, Brooke revealed that she fell in love with the future Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman star during her junior year at Princeton and ultimately consummated their relationship after "years of dating."

But thanks to the complicated relationship she had with her mom, it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

"[My mom] loved that I had briefly dated John Travolta, Jimmy McNichol, Leif Garrett, Scott Baio, and John Kennedy," she wrote of her momager Teri, who "trusted that I would keep my vow of chastity."

Things changed, however, when Brooke and Dean started seeing each other. She admitted, "Mom was unjustly judgmental of our romantic relationship and she feared it on a deeper level. I don't know if she would ever admit to it but this threat went beyond Catholicism. I believe she wanted me to stay hers alone. She believed in an absolute hold she had on me ... And growing up, and having sex, would mean that I was leaving her."

By the time she was 22, Brooke was ready to finally do the deed with her first real love, after they had "been together for what seemed like a lifetime."

She called it a "beautiful" experience, but then her demons got the best of her and she panicked with guilt over what she had done.

"It should have been what I had wished for myself, but in an instant, guilt slapped me in the face," Shields wrote. "Instead of giving in to what was a loving, and emotionally safe, relationship, and escaping into the most intimate and deserved moment, I began to cry deeply and silently ... I got so overwhelmed that I jumped out of my bed and bolted out of the room."

She continued, "I was buck naked, streaking down a hallway and running as if I had just stolen someone's wallet. What a sight! Dean leapt up and ran after me with the comforter in his arms. He threw it around me, grabbed me around my shoulders, and stopped me from running."

She said that that experience, combined with graduating college, was the beginning of the end for the relationship, but she still holds the actor in high regard.

The 49-year-old star, who now has two children with husband Chris Henchy, told PEOPLE magazine that she recently called her ex-boyfriend to let him know that he was included in her new book.

"He said, 'As long as you're happy with it, I'm comfortable with it,'" she said. "There's nothing sordid about it. He's such a good guy and a sweet human being."

Oh my goodness, what a confession, and what a deep insight into a woman who struggled to become her own person under the harsh glare of fame, but also the watchful and judgmental eye of her mother.
