Duggar Kiss Challenge Takes Brilliant Twist They Never Saw Coming (PHOTOS)

duggars kissingWhether you agree with them or not, the 19 Kids & Counting Duggar family has strong, very firm beliefs on love, sex, marriage, and Christianity. It's rumored that the kids' upbringing is so strict, Jim Bob and Michelle require them to copy them on all text messages and they're not allowed to celebrate Halloween. They've made it very clear you can't do anything remotely physical before tying the knot and they don't agree with same-sex marriage. So Jim Bob and Michelle may have been a little shocked by what happened when they posted a photo of them kissing and asked other couples to do the same.

If you haven't heard by now, Jim Bob and Michelle re-created daughter Jessa and husband Ben's supposed first kiss. It was met with some backlash, but they released a statement in order to clear things up a bit.

On their official Facebook page, they wrote, "Recently, Ben & Jessa received some criticism for posting a kissing picture. We are so grateful they waited to share their first kiss until after marriage." In order to justify them re-creating that kissing photo, they then proceeded to post:

God designed marriage to be a loving, dynamic relationship between a husband and wife for a lifetime. God loves marriage and it is supposed to be full of love, joy, fun, and romance. Marriage is where romance belongs!

We are so grateful they waited to share their first kiss until after marriage. We’ve been married 30 years and are still in love! We had fun trying to duplicate Ben and Jessa's happily married kissing picture. We challenge all married couples to take a happily married picture and post it here.

You can probably guess what happened next, right?

According to reports, the Duggars did take one of the photos down, and the same-sex couple then proceeded to post this:

Hey, love is love, right? At least it should be! It's hard to imagine what the Duggars are thinking after seeing these photos (or why they wouldn't have been able to figure out that this was inevitable since they have made it very clear that they believe marriage is between a man and a woman), but perhaps they're more okay with the pics than most people think. Even the comments aren't all that scathing, which they definitely could have been considering how scary of a place the Internet can be.

The Duggars have every right to their opinion, of course, but they shouldn't be surprised by this response. Because no matter what one's views happen to be, it looks like all the people who replied to their request and posted a kissing photo are enjoying very happy marriages. And that's definitely a cause for celebration!

Do you think the Duggars care that so many same-sex couples posted photos of themselves kissing to their Facebook page?
