Princess Di Dresses & Surprising Kate Middleton Item to Be Auctioned Off

Kate Middleton

Anyone want to bid for a little piece of royal history here? Princess Diana and Kate Middleton’s possessions are being auctioned off in a Stateside tour next month, and some of the items up for grabs will really shock you.

The collection -- which will make its way from New York City to Beverly Hills -- is bound to make waves, considering it includes some of Princess Di’s most stylish pieces and something particularly odd from Kate, too.

According to Us Weekly, Julien’s Auction of Beverly Hills will be unloading Diana's dresses, with some pieces estimated to take in $60,000 to $80,000. (OMG, could you imagine paying that much money for a dress that was worn by Princess Di over 20 years ago?!?!) The pieces include a petal pink gown by Catherine Walker and a Zandra Rhodes evening gown worn by Di to the Birthright benefit at the London Palladium in 1987.

And while I’m sure that these dresses are going to be a hit, get this: lucky royal fans will also be able to bid on a piece of cake from Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding day. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking: YUCK. But according to the auction house’s executive director, Martin Nolan, fruit cake actually tastes the best when it's at least 30 months old. Oh my. I’ll take his word for it, but I’m not one to try it. I usually throw away any left over cake from my fridge when it’s over a week old. But I’m sure there will be someone out there who is willing to take a bite out of it!

This auction just goes to show that Kate Middleton has definitely been elevated up to icon status, as there are people out there who are willing to pay big bucks for something that once belonged to her. I mean, if I had the money, I would try bidding on a statement necklace, but a stale piece of cake? NEVAH.

Would you bid on Kate's cake?
