Selena Gomez Explains Love for Justin Bieber in Her Latest Music Video

Selena GomezSelena Gomez's bizarre attachment to Justin Bieber is one of the great mysteries of life. I mean, why is this gorgeous, talented, super sweet young woman so head over heels for the twerpiest punk in Hollywood? It just doesn't make any sense.

Until you see her latest music video, that is. Gomez got super emotional for "The Heart Wants What It Wants," which she dropped on Thursday, November 6. After seeing this video, we no longer have to wonder why Selena Gomez likes Justin Bieber so much.

The former Disney star starts off the song just speaking, breaking down in tears as she talks about boy problems, and we gotta assume she's talking about Biebs here.

When I was on stage and I was thinking of ... I know him though, and I know that I know his heart, and I know what he wouldn't do to hurt me.

But I didn't realize that I'm feeling so confident and feeling so great about myself and then it [can] just be completely shattered by one thing ... by something so stupid. But then you make me feel crazy, you make me feel like it's my fault. I was in pain.

And then the actual song starts. The 22-year-old croons, "The bed's getting cold and you're not here / The future that we hold is so unclear / But I'm not alive until you call / And I'll bet the odds against it all / Save your advice 'cause I won't hear / You might be right but I don't care / There's a million reasons why I should give you up / But the heart wants what it wants."

Holy crap, is that a codependent relationship or what? Yes, the heart wants what it wants, but if it wants an unhealthy relationship, it should be ignored completely. "I'm not alive until you call"? So bad!

I'm hoping that Selena has moved beyond this point in her emotional development, because she is describing one effed up relationship from both sides. Like in the opening monologue, when she talks about everything being shattered by one stupid thing. Happy, healthy people aren't shattered when something goes wrong. She's describing a level of emotional fragility attributed to very wounded people.

And the whole thing about him making her feel crazy? That's called gaslighting, honey, and it's an emotional abuse tactic.

So yeah, I'd say this song sums up Selena and Justin's relationship in a nutshell. She needs him to be her everything, and when he acts like a douche, she's shattered, but then he probably tells her she expects too much or something, so then she self-blames but ultimately ends up feeling crazy because somewhere inside she knows she shouldn't put up with it, but she does, because after all ... the heart wants what it wants.

Do you think Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber's relationship has any degree of emotional health?
