Kim Kardashian's Struggle With Infertility Was So Much Worse Than We Knew
kimkardashian/InstagramOver the years, Kim Kardashian has been open about the fact that she's struggled with fertility, and she's shared her journey with using a surrogate to bring kiddos Chicago and Psalm into the world. But now, Kim's sharing what she went through while pregnant with Saint and North, and it sounds like it was truly a scary experience.
In a new video from her Skims Instagram account, Kim shared her story.
As we already knew, Kim suffered from preeclampsia and placenta accreta while giving birth to North, and those scary complications returned when she gave birth to Saint -- and ultimately, they made it impossible for her to ever carry a child again.
"After that, I actually had to have five different operations within a year and a half to fix the damage that all of that did from the inside," she explained. "From the outside I was filming and [doing] photo shoots. I asked my doctors, 'Can I do it one more time?' And they were like, 'We won't even put an embryo in you -- that would be like malpractice.'"
After that, Kim was required to use a surrogate if she wanted to use the rest of the embryos she had frozen.
"I'm so thankful for my beautiful kids, no matter how they came to me -- they came to me," Kim said. "I'm so thankful for surrogates. I'm really thankful for my family. I grew up with so many siblings. I just loved being in a big environment. I would have gone through the same pain and back for the result of having my babies. It was all worth it."
And although the jury's still out on whether or not Kim will ever have more kids, right now, her four are pretty special -- and it's awesome that they were able to make their way to her.
Kim's journey couldn't have been easy, but she's done a lot to share how awesome surrogates really are.
On Keeping Up With the Kardashians, fans got to meet the woman who carried Chicago, and it seems like she practically became a part of her family.
Then again, she was the reason Kim got to have her second daughter, so it makes sense. Such a selfless deed, because pregnancy is no joke. Even though she was paid, it was still such a huge sacrifice and toll her body to carry a baby for another mom. No wonder she is so special to Kim!

We've loved every minute of following along with her journey and love watching these little ones grow. With as sassy as North is and as sweet as Saint is, we know Psalm and Chicago are going to have their own little personalities shining through before we know it.
