Taylor Swift Song About Harry Styles Reveals All That Went Wrong

Taylor SwiftOMG, people, we have been waiting for soooooo long to find out what kind of breakup song Taylor Swift would inevitably write when her nanosecond-long relationship with crooner Harry Styles came to its inevitable conclusion. While it's quite possible that every single song on her new album, 1989, is inspired by stylin' Harry, given that he's the only guy she really dated while writing new songs (whatever happened to that Kennedy kid?), hardcore fans have quickly zeroed in on the ONE song that HAS to be about hot-haired Harry. And it's ... drum roll, please ... "All You Had to Do Was Stay."

This is deduced by the ineluctable fact that Taylor and Harry broke up in January of 2013, and shortly thereafter, Tays was in the studio recording. When fans recently asked her on Tumblr which song she was recording that first time back in the studio (a mere week or so after her split), she replied that the song had indeed made it to the album and that song was "All You Had to Do ..."

Hence, my little detectives, that particular song HAS to be about you-know-who.

Things we learn about Tarry (Haylor?) from the lyrics to "All You Had to Do ...":

- It was Harry who dumped Taylor, ie, she talks about the "love [he] gave away."

- Harry then tried to get Taylor back, ie: "People like you always want back the love they gave away."

- Taylor was apparently a total doormat while with Harry, ie: "Had me in the palm of your hand." Or that's some kind of sexual thing. Ew.

- Sounds like Taylor lost her keys one night, ie: "Why'd you had to go and lock me out when I let you in." Hardy har, yeah, I know she's not being literal.

- Harry definitely called her up and tried to worm his way back in, ie: "Here you are now, calling me up, but I don't know what to say." (We pretty much already knew this from when she took a dig at him at the Grammys.)

- Taylor was not never, EVER getting back together, ie: "People like me are gone forever when you say goodbye."

- Harry didn't really have to do much to impress Taylor -- just, you know, stick around, ie: "All you had to do was stay."

Sure, it's a sad song, but don't you get the feeling Taylor was all kinds of giddy when Harry bailed so she could run to the studio and bang out a breakup tune?

Is this the song you expected?
