Usher Says He Would Punch Justin Bieber in the Chest

Justin Bieber, UsherEvery time there's something in the news about Justin Bieber being an idiot Justin Bieber, somewhere in the back of my brain I have to wonder what Usher thinks about his shenanigans. After all, he's the one who brought us this teen heartthrob when he was just 13 years old. You remember -- back when he was all cute and family friendly. Before he started peeing in restaurant mop buckets and egging his neighbors. Le sigh.

Anyway, Usher recently opened up about his protege in the latest issue of Billboard magazine, and what he thinks of the Bieb's bad behavior.

In the past, the 36-year-old "Good Kisser" singer has defended Justin publicly even while dishing out the tough love behind the scenes. Usher reportedly participated in an intervention of sorts for the troubled pop star at the beginning of the year, but then over the summer came to his defense when he was caught on tape using the N-word.

Last June, he said, "As I have watched Justin Bieber navigate difficult waters as a young man, I can tell you that he hasn't always chosen the path of his greatest potential, but he is unequivocally not a racist ... what he is now is a young man faced with an opportunity to become his best self, an example to the millions of kids that follow him to not make the same mistakes."

So how does he feel about the twerp now? His support seems to be waning. While he won't come out and disown him (yet), it's clear that Ush is sort of pissed at Biebs, and is trying to distance himself.

"I can say I'm not happy with all the choices my friend has made, but I'm supportive of him," he said of the 20-year-old. "He's making his own decisions and it's important to show support."

Usher also wants to make it clear that Biebs is totally responsible for his own decisions, and that it is no way a reflection on him as his mentor. "Our relationship is more man-to-man now," Usher explained.

And then the best part. "I try my hardest to give as much positive reinforcement as I can. I'll punch him in the f---ing chest when I need to," he said, before softening it with, "and give him a hug and kiss when I need to."

Note to Usher -- next time Biebs does something asinine, a punch may do him better than a hug. Just saying.

Do you think Justin Bieber could use some tough love?
