Neil Patrick Harris Hosting the 2015 Oscars Is Basically the Best Thing Ever (VIDEOS)

Neil Patrick HarrisNeil Patrick Harris has checked off one more item on his bucket list -- host the Academy Awards. In 2015, I'll be able to check one off my list too -- watch Neil Patrick Harris host the Oscars.

The 41-year-old actor and Host with the Most tweeted the news on Wednesday, by sharing a video. He starts out on the phone, saying, "I'm in," to an unidentified person on the other end.

Then the camera closes in on his bucket list, which is full of fun items like "rap with Snoop Dog," "sleep in Cinderella's castle," "star in a Broadway show," and "have children." At the bottom, he carefully circles "host the Oscars," the only item on the list without a check mark next to it.

NPH has plenty of emceeing experience under his belt, which is why I'm so friggin excited to see him host the Oscars. He's done the Emmys, and of course the Tony Awards, but come on -- the Academy Awards is like the prom of award show season.

He helped open the 2010 show with that year's hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin with a hilarious musical number that I'm hoping only hints at the greatness to come at the 2015 Academy Awards.

Skip to the 1:11 mark to see a smiling Robin Williams in the audience and remember his greatness for just a sec, but go straight to 1:50 to see NPH come on.

Do you think Neil Patrick Harris is a good choice to host the Academy Awards?
