Kendall & Kylie Jenner Make 'Time's Most Influential Teens List & the World Freaks

Kendall and Kylie JennerTime magazine has released its list of the most influential teenagers and guess who is on it? Oh, sure, you knew Nobel Prize winner and education for girls advocate Malala Yousafzai would be there. And no surprise that Malia and Sasha Obama are too. But what's really causing a ruckus is the inclusion of Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Yes, we all know their names. But seriously?? Influential??? Yep, you bet they are.

So what exactly have the two accomplished? Okay, they're on a reality show -- but the show was put into motion long before the girls were much of a plot point. They did nothing to make the show a reality except show up. And yeah, Kendall models for top designers. So do thousands of other teens. And, hey, Kylie has big lips.

What do they do?

Not much, let's face it. They post scantily clad pictures on Instagram. They supposedly "wrote" a book.

But does it matter that they haven't accomplished nearly what the other teens on the list have? Does it matter that they don't use their Instagram platform to draw attention to social injustice or that they don't run their own companies (if you think they do, puhleeze!).

That isn't really the point of "influence." They are influential merely because millions of teens around the globe know their names, line up to catch glimpses of them, and follow them on Twitter and Instagram.

If Kylie wears a certain bikini, no doubt the store that sells it will sell them out. If Kendall posts a picture of a brand of energy drink, millions will buy it. That is influence whether we like it or not.

They are their own brand. Just because they seem to have no real discernible talent doesn't mean that brand isn't as strong as other brands. After all, Coca-Cola doesn't sing, dance, or act.

Now that we know they're influential, let's see them put that influence to good use. Let's see them pick a passion -- maybe it's bullied models, whatever -- and work to right some injustice.

Kendall and Kylie, are you listening?
