Jessa Duggar Should Think Twice About the Family She's Marrying Into

Jessa DuggarOh my. Remember when Jessa Duggar had the audacity to stick up for the people that other people don't necessarily count as people? A few weeks ago, the 19 Kids and Counting star visited the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., and tweeted a message that no person formed in God's image (i.e. all human beings) deserved to be snuffed out because others didn't deem them worthy of life.

She's had many defenders, but none more vocal nor more controversial than her future father-in-law. Unfortunately, Ben Seewald's dad took his defense of Jessa a little too far. Michael Seewald called Jessa's haters "Hitler’s Doppelgangers."

Of course a lot of people went nuts when Jessa posted her thoughts on the matter, saying that she was directly comparing abortion with the holocaust. I stand by my original comments that she was just lamenting all innocent loss of life. Scientific fact -- if you believe life begins at conception, then abortion snuffs out a life.

However, that doesn't mean it's OK to compare people who believe otherwise to Hitler. Geez, it's called decorum, not to mention the fact that no one is going to be convinced to examine their beliefs if they believe that those on the other side of the fence think they're basically Nazis.

The thing is ... having an abortion, or even defending a woman's right to choose, doesn't make you a bad person. It doesn't make you evil, it doesn't make you a murderer, and it certainly doesn't make you Hitler.

Women have abortions for many, many different reasons. I'm pretty sure most of them are scared and question their decision, both before and after the procedure. Abortion is a big deal, no matter how much anyone else would like to make it seem like it's not.

The last thing women that have terminated their pregnancies need is someone comparing them to Hitler.

You can't help who you fall in love with, and people aren't necessarily like their parents, but Ben's dad was way harsh with his comments. Jessa would probably be smart to discover if Ben has a little bit more compassion than his dad before she officially ties the knot.

Do you think Michael Seewald's comments went too far?
