Taylor Swift Gives 4 Good Reasons She's Not as Annoying as You Might Think

Taylor SwiftTake a deep breath. It’s not going to be easy to grasp, but Taylor Swift may have just convinced me that she’s actually not annoying.

Yes, I’m talking about the same Taylor Swift who made a career out of turning her biggest hits into cryptic messages to her never-ending parade of ex-boyfriends. No, I didn’t forget about the way Taylor walks out of the gym looking so flawless it’s hard to believe she sweated for even one second on the treadmill (let alone showered and primped in, gasp, a locker room).  And, sigh, there’s also the way she walks around the streets of New York City with her cat in her arms or posts on Instagram all the perfect parties she hosts at one of her many homes with her group of A-list girlfriends.

But, hear me out --Taylor really is just like us. She’s gracing the cover of People magazine’s 40th anniversary issue this week and opens up about her life in a way that made me realize that when you take away the fame and paparazzi, she really is just like any other 24-year-old finding her way. Here are four things she said that convinced me.

1. After a string of broken relationships, Taylor told People she really is trying to “shake it off” when it comes to her love life.

The last couple of years have been about defining life on my own terms. Being on my own, prioritizing my girlfriends, my family and my music above everything else and trying things I never thought I'd try. It's a really liberating and freeing time.

2. Her new album "1989" (out on October 27th) will NOT be an excuse to publicly (and mysteriously) shame her exes. It will reflect on her life in a really open way.

You're not going to hear, oh, like, boyfriend dissing. When I'm deeply hurt, I usually respond by writing exactly how I feel in a song, but I just haven't been devastated in the last couple of years. I made the decision to spend time on my own and figure out who I am.

3. Taylor really isn’t jumping into a new relationship anytime soon. She learned her lesson -- and admits that dating even makes her nervous! Besides, she has two furry friends to keep her company.

I'm not going to compromise the happiness and independence that I've found for just anybody. The idea of a date gives me a partial panic attack. It includes 40 paparazzi cameras shooting through windows at us, and that's not relaxing or alluring for me. That makes me want to crawl under the couch and hide! But I'm fine! I have two cats. That's all I need.

4. Even though Taylor’s close girlfriends range from Emma Stone to Lena Dunham to Lorde, she does really lean on them for support. And that’s something every gal needs to survive—single or taken!

My group of friends are the most important thing to me right now. They are so fun and know me and like me for who I actually am.

So, do these new confessions from Taylor make you like her more -- or less?
