Ed Sheeran Shouldn't Have to Apologize for Calling Miley Cyrus a 'Stripper'

Ed SheeranAh, the British. Sometimes they're just too dang polite. Like Ed Sheeran, who for some reason felt the need to apologize for making some comments about Miley Cyrus last year on the state of her apparel ... or lack thereof, as the case may be.

After Miley's twerkfest, AKA the 2013 VMAs where she got all up in Robin Thicke's junk, the "Don't" singer called her a stripper. Hey, if the shoe fits ...

There's no need to be so hard on yourself, Ed! Our favorite ginger of the moment recently told The Sun that he felt like a "c--t" for saying those things about Miley, and he clarified his comments while praising Miley's musical talent.

Last year, he said in an interview, "I think she's got an amazing voice. I just think she's packaged the wrong way ... When I first heard 'Wrecking Ball,' I thought it was a brilliant song, but the video distracts too much from it."

The 23-year-old also said, "I think encouraging young people to twerk might be a bad thing ... It's a stripper's move. If I had a daughter of nine, I wouldn't want her twerking."

We're with you, dude! hammer-licking is distracting. So is swinging around naked on a giant wrecking ball. It takes a great song about putting up walls in relationships and the vulnerability of breaking them down and makes it about a hammer-licking naked pop star. Boo.

Anyway, Sheeran apologized for his harsh words, saying, "I was a bit of a c--t. I do feel bad about it as I'd be f--king livid if someone said that about me ... My general point was I wanted her to sing the songs so people could see what an amazing artist she is. I just worded it wrong."

But no one would say that about you, Ed, because you don't walk around in shreds of fabric masquerading as clothes, and you keep your tongue in your mouth. Thank you for acting like a decent human being, by the way.

It wasn't just to The Sun either. In a recent radio interview, he also brought up his "Stripper Miley" comments. He reflected, "I said [something] along the lines of, 'Your voice is amazing, your songs are amazing, just stop twerking.' I didn't say it in the nicest way and I do genuinely love her music and think her voice is great. I don't really know what to do. I'll find a way to [apologize]."

It's nice that he wants to say sorry for the things he said, but really, I don't think he said anything that bad. Sometimes you have to call a spade a spade.

Do you think Ed Sheeran owed Miley Cyrus an apology for calling her a stripper?
