George Clooney & Amal Alamuddin Party Separately After Rehearsal Dinner

Knowing you are about to become George Clooney's bride is probably the only reason you'd ever want to separate from his gorgeous side for more than 10 minutes. But the actor and his equally-as-stunning lawyer fiance Amal Alamuddin chose to do just that after hosting an elegant, star-studded rehearsal dinner in Venice the night before they said "I do."

George, 53, and Amal, 36, kicked off the night with an intimate dinner for guests at Hotel Cipriani on the island of Giudecca. Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana, were among the celebs who attended -- along with Cindy Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber (who is rumored to be George's best man), John Krasinkski and Emily Blunt, and U2's Bono.

Nothing spectacular so far, right? Just your run-of-the-mill rehearsal dinner in one of the most glorious cities on earth -- ho hum. But what they did next was fantastic -- the couple and their friends and family split up into girl/boy groups and continued on their merry way.

After their joint dinner, George -- always the gentleman -- first escorted Amal and the ladies to a different restaurant, where they had cocktails together and, we're betting, engaged in some amazing girl talk. Can you imagine the interesting conversation you'd get to overhear with Amal, Anna Wintour, and Cindy Crawford involved?

The boys then hopped on a gondola and headed for Da Ivo for a full night of bachelor fun, which must have included boatloads of tequila, as we hear Gerber made sure 50 crates of the alcohol were boarded on a private plane to Italy ahead of the three-day celebration.

George and Amal are set to get married today at the seven-star Hotel Aman, which used to be a Renaissance palace. Rumor has it they will then have a civil ceremony in Venice on Monday.

These two lovebirds seem perfect for one another. There's no doubt she'll make one stunning bride in her Alexander McQueen gown and their reception is bound to be a low-key, but super-elegant bash.

Do you like the idea of couples separating after their rehearsal dinner for one last hurrah with friends?
