Bradley Cooper & Jennifer Lawrence Mesmerize in 'Serena' Trailer

The trailer for Serena, the latest movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, has just been released, and it does not disappoint. The movie takes place in Depression-era North Carolina, and despite Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence not being the first people you likely think of when you hear "Depression-era North Carolina," it works. They work. The Susanne Bier-directed film is a far cry from Lawrence and Cooper's previous collaborations together, American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook, but, if I might be so bold, it looks like this could be their best work together yet.

Check out the trailer:

I don't know about you, but I'm totally buying them as a husband and wife running a timber company in the late '30s/early '40s -- hook, line, and sinker. Also, it's nice to see the actors together again, but doing something different. Like everyone else, I'm a fan of Lawrence and Cooper, but I'm not sure how on board I would have been with yet another film starring both of them, where they spend the majority of their scenes together bickering and/or yelling at one another. This looks like it has more of a slow burn, and the characters aren't what we're used to seeing either actor portraying.

Serena will debut at the BFI London Film Festival October 24 and open in the UK shortly thereafter. There still isn't a release date for the U.S., but as we all know, the closer a film opening is to December, the more everyone involved with it is hoping it'll be an Oscar contender. Seems like a pretty good possibility.

Are you looking forward to this movie?
