Nicole Kidman's Family in 'Shock' After Father Unexpectedly Dies

A sad day for Nicole Kidman. Reportedly, the actress's father, Antony, died after suffering a suspected heart attack in Singapore. Antony, who was a clinical psychologist and director of health psychology at the University of Technology Sydney, reportedly collapsed while visiting Nicole's sister, Antonia, and her six children. Police are now investigating the exact cause of death. Some reports are describing Antony's death as due to a tragic accident from a fall.

Nicole hasn't yet released a statement, but the family is understandably said to be in total shock. Wendy Day, Nicole's publicist and a friend of the family, told Daily Mail Australia:

The family is in shock and is grieving ... I think that some time and privacy is needed to deal with this shock and tragedy.

The newspaper also said that a woman at Nicole's home said she doesn't feel "comfortable" making a statement yet. But Nicole was known to be very close to her dad, he often walked the red carpet with her. He gave her away in her 2006 wedding to Keith Urban.

Nicole had previously credited her dad and her mom, Janelle, for her success, saying:

He's a great father, I can call him at three in the morning and he's there for me ... My parents thought it was nice to develop my imagination, but they never seriously thought that anything would ever come of it.

And despite telling her she couldn't be an actress because she would be taller than all of her leading men, Nicole says, "They allowed me any artistic outlet I wanted."

Nicole was so lucky to have such a supportive, loving relationship with her father. Not everyone gets that. Hopefully the memory of their wonderful father-daughter relationship will offer her solace during this difficult time.

Any words for Nicole and her family?
