Joan Rivers Gets Her Final Wish for a Red Carpet Funeral

Joan RiversWe still can't believe Joan Rivers is with us no more, after passing away earlier this week, but the world does keep spinning, and funeral arrangements must be made.

According to Us Weekly, an insider has confirmed that the legend's final wishes will be honored, and funeral guests will walk in on a red carpet to her NYC funeral on Sunday, September 7. The carpet will be placed outside the Temple Emanu-El for friends and family to walk upon, and the late star will then be buried with it.

The source said, "A lot of celebrities confirmed," but no mention on who will be in attendance.

Loved ones didn't have to look far to find out exactly what Rivers wanted for her funeral. The tell-it-like-it-is comedienne wrote in her 2012 book, I Hate Everyone…Starting with Me, that she wanted her exit from this world to be celebrated with a lot of fanfare.

When I die (and yes, Melissa, that day will come; and yes, Melissa, everything's in your name,) I want my funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights, cameras, action ...

I want Craft services, I want paparazzi and I want publicists making a scene! I want it to be Hollywood all the way. I don't want some rabbi rambling on; I want Meryl Streep crying, in five different accents ... I don't want a eulogy; I want Bobby Vinton to pick up my head and sing 'Mr. Lonely.' I want to look gorgeous, better dead than I do alive. I want to be buried in a Valentino gown and I want Harry Winston to make me a toe tag. And I want a wind machine so that even in the casket my hair is blowing just like Beyonce's.

For someone who lived life with so much gusto, it makes perfect sense that she'd want to go out with a bang. Or, a red carpet gala, as the case may be.

Are you surprised by Joan Rivers' wishes for her funeral?
