LeAnn Rimes Makes Incredibly Offensive Rape Jokes

LeAnn Rimes is good at a lot of things. She can sing (her Grammys attest to that) and she can enrage Brandi Glanville quicker than any other woman. The thing she is not good at -- cracking jokes. The country crooner-turned-reality TV star is under fire for telling two rape jokes to Joan Rivers ... and boy are they in bad taste.

For the comedianne's new YouTube series In Bed With Joan, LeAnn and Eddie Cibrian open up like never before. As soon as they sit down and are handed drinks, the singer quips, "This one might be roofied." Things only get worse later when she's asked about losing her virginity. "I was in Monte Carlo and I was 15," she said. "I know, it's kind of a bullshit story. I was 16. There you go." Then Joan asked, "Was it nice? Was it bad? Was he nice?"

There are a million ways she could have handled that answer, but regrettably, this is what she said: "Well, he was my boyfriend for like three and a half years. He was fine. I think I raped him. I think that's how it happened."

Did I miss something? When did rape jokes become funny? Not surprisingly, lots of people were insulted and took to Twitter to let her know how they felt.

I get that LeAnn is trying to be cool, funny, and relatable. Her reputation has certainly taken a serious hit in recent years. She and Eddie were made out to be cold-hearted, selfish cheaters when they got together while married to other people. I wouldn't doubt that image rehab is one of the reasons they signed on for that awkward reality show LeAnn and Eddie. But if she wants people to like her, she should choose her quips more carefully.
