Ramona Singer's 911 Call Is a Serious Sign She Needs to Make Changes

The divorce of Ramona and Mario Singer is, in every sense of the word, getting stranger and more dramatic by the day. Not long after Ramona denied anything being wrong with her and Mario's relationship on The Real Housewives of New York reunion, Mario was spotted with his alleged mistress, Kasey Dexter. And then a few days after that, Ramona announced that she was pulling the trigger on their divorce, which has been pending for months. "I tried to make my marriage work because I have strong values and I believe that people make mistakes," Singer told People. "[But] I reached my breaking point."

Good for her, right? But then things took an incredibly odd turn: Ramona accused Mario's mistress of stalking her and went to the police.

On Wednesday afternoon, Ramona called 911, saying that Dexter had followed her to a restaurant. Police responded to the call and showed up at the restaurant, where they found a woman eating lunch with a man -- neither of which had any association with Ramona or Mario.

Clearly, Ramona is under an enormous amount of stress right now, dealing with a humiliating divorce that's become fodder for all of us, but maybe she needs to take things down a notch? Maybe she needs to lay off the 911 phone calls -- is 911 necessary if you think your husband's mistress is at the same restaurant as you? And maybe she should stop talking to the press and just try to move on privately. Yes, it's important to be honest and accept things, but the more she talks about her situation to the media, the more attention she's going to get regarding it. And the harder it's going to be for her to truly get over Mario.

Ramona recently opened up on her Bravo blog about why she was acting the way she was at the reunion. She claims that Mario was adamant about her not speaking about his infidelity on the show. "I was allowing my husband to control my behavior," she said. The entry was nice, as she apologized to both Andy Cohen and LuAnn de Lesseps for being so rude to them, but you know what? I think this is where Ramona ought to close the door to the public on this chapter of her life.

Ramona kicking Mario to the curb is definitely a good thing, and I'm happy that she's no longer operating under the ridiculous auspice that the two of them are "fine," but it's time for Ramona to grieve privately on this issue. As much as we all love hearing juicy gossip, she needs to see that she's only doing herself a disservice by constantly talking about it.

Do you think Ramona is really over Mario?
