Kaley Cuoco's Surprising Confession About Playing Penny on 'Big Bang Theory'

Kaley KuocoMost actors get upset about being typecast into a particular role, especially when they seem to come out of nowhere fast to achieve mega success with a well-known character. Hello, isn't that why Miley Cyrus is trying to kill Hannah Montana, and Daniel Radcliffe did full-frontal nudity on the London stage?

But not Kaley Cuoco, who plays lovable but ditzy girl-next-door Penny on the uber popular Big Bang Theory. This quirky star graced the cover of Women's Health for their September issue, and according to her, she doesn't mind being typecast one little bit.

The 28-year-old cutie is basically on top of the world right now. She's enjoying newlywed bliss with husband Ryan Sweeting and, after seven seasons playing Penny on Chuck Lorre's smash CBS hit, just signed on for three (along with co-stars Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons) more at a reported $1 million per episode.

But how does she really feel about playing the adorable yet slightly empty-headed role? Pretty dang great, actually.

I have no idea what they are doing with Big Bang this season ... we are going into season 8 which is amazing. If you told me that 8 years ago I would be like, 'Ha ha, OK' ... I hope next season we engage wedding stuff, I would love that. If I had to guess Leonard is more of a planner than Penny, which is funny ... I feel so lucky we are going to be on much longer.

While she admits that she'd like to branch out from comedy, she says her first love will always be sitcoms.

I will take any role anyone will hire me on ... I am doing a tiny movie in July before I go back to work which is much darker for me. I play a drug addict and I am actually kind of excited about it, I've never been able to do anything like that. I think people probably didn't think that I could. So I am excited to do that side of things.

I was telling someone last night, people always say, ‘Oh my god, you're going to be typecast,' and if I really was typecast as Penny or the girl next store, it would be the greatest thing in the world, then I have a job forever playing that ... that is kind of how I look at it, if this is what I do forever, fine, but I'll try and do as many things as possible and experience the whole world of acting, as silly as that sounds, but I love all aspects of it, but comedy is definitely number one.

Well that's a bit of an unusual takeaway for a breakout sitcom star! Usually they like to get all moody and "prove" themselves as "serious" actors, but Kaley is just enjoying life and enjoying her success for what it is. Bravo to her for being able to appreciate the good things life has thrown at her.

Do you think Kaley Cuoco has an unusual attitude when it comes to being typecast in Hollywood?
