Solange Knowles Finally Talks About That Elevator Brawl With Jay Z

solange knowlesIt's been a couple months since the Met Ball and that infamous elevator brawl between Solange Knowles and her brother-in-law Jay Z. But time has done little to quiet the speculation over what happened to set the singer off. Well, in the new issue of the fashion and style magazine Lucky, Solange finally opens up about her headline-grabbing behavior. Here is what she had to say:

What's important is that my family and I are all good. What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that.

I would be lying if I said we weren't incredibly disappointed. The "statement" she is referring to is as bland and formulaic as they get. You may recall, it said: "... the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."

That only fueled speculation as to what was going on behind closed doors. The majority of fans seem to believe that Solange was reacting to evidence that Jay Z was cheating on Beyonce. Others just thought she was simply unhinged or crazy.

Whatever the true cause, her recent comment will do little to squash the rumors. In actuality, skirting the issue makes one thing very clear: something really bad happened. Of course, it is their right to deal with this privately -- but people will still talk. That is just par for the course when you are a celeb in the midst of a scandal.

And say what you will about what went down, there is one thing we do know for sure: this has been a great career move for Solange. She has struggled with her singing career for years, always in the shadow of her older and more talented sister. Now she is gracing magazine covers and people care about what she is doing and what she has to say. And as the saying goes, "there is no such thing as bad press."

What do you think about the way Solange, Beyonce, and Jay Z have handled the scandal?
