Chris Colfer Firing News Freaks 'Glee' Fans Out

Chris ColferChris Colfer created quite the panic Thursday with his sudden and unexpected announcement that he was leaving Glee. He tweeted to his fans, "Due to personal issues, I have been let go from the cast of GLEE. Explanations will come shortly ..."

The hit Fox show is heading into its sixth and final season, and the news that Colfer wouldn't be a part of it had people exclaiming, "Oh. Em. Glee!" But never fear -- it turns out the actor's Twitter account was just hacked. His reps have confirmed he is definitely staying on next season.

20th Century Fox TV also confirmed the hacking and affirmed that Colfer will be back for the final season. "We've been alerted that Chris Colfer's Twitter account has been hacked," the studio said. "Rumors of his dismissal from Glee could not be further from the truth. We love Chris and look forward to working with him again this season."

Phew! Chris Colfer is arguably the best character on that show, and the last season would definitely suffer without him. The 24-year-old actor has played the openly gay Kurt Hummel since day one of the show back in 2009.

Kurt has been involved in several key relationships on the show, including best friend of Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and stepbrother to the late great Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith, RIP). His romantic relationship with Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss) has spanned several seasons and the two are now engaged.

Colfer's Kurt isn't just a fan favorite though -- he's also gotten him several awards, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, three People's Choice Awards for Favorite TV Comedy Actor, and multiple Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

Yeah, season 6 of Glee would've sucked without Kurt. We're glad to hear it was all just a false alarm!

Are you psyched for the last season of Glee?
